President's Message

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we are now into 2012. I hope you all had a joyous holiday season spent with family and friends! The end of the year also represents the end of my term as IANN President. It has been a privilege and honor to serve in this role. I want to thank each one of you for your commitment to your professional organization. You are what makes neonatal nursing so meaningful for tiny patients and families, as well as our coworkers. I hope that each of you look forward to the new year with enthusiasm and renewed energy!! I look forward to my continued involvement in IANN and am excited to be able to hand the leadership role over to Barbara Smith!

We had a great past year in IANN, accomplishing most of our goals. We hosted 2 CEU events at quarterly meetings, we continued to provide outreach to our communities with donations collected at each meeting, and we served our 2nd Annual IANN Holiday meal at the Iowa City Ronald McDonald House in December. Our caring attitude has really been shown to our communities and I know we will do even more in 2012.

One goal that we did not meet this year was to increase our membership numbers! I challenge each one of you to remain active in this organization and to invite your coworkers to become involved!!

Our next meeting will be January 25th at Blackstone’s Restaurant in Iowa City. A CEU will be offered by Denise Easley on Neonatal Abstinence Scoring. The by-laws will also be reviewed. Please review them in this newsletter so that you can provide feedback for any changes at the meeting.

Don’t forget to keep bringing donations for the local community center. Look inside this newsletter for the Iowa City center selected this month!

Looking forward to seeing all of you on January 25th!

Denise
