Make plans to attend the meeting on January 18th. We will review the By-Laws, hear about the NANN conference, begin conference planning, and set goals for 2017. We have a lot to cover and we need your input. If you are unable to attend, please consider sending me an email with you goals and ideas.
One of our sanding goals is education for our members. We achieve this through our annual conference. W also had two education offerings supported by Mead Johnson. It is important to keep this conference affordable and meaningful for our members first. To do that, we need to rely on support from vendors. This year, Prolacta will sponsor Terry Johnson to speak at our July conference. Those that attended the Prolacta Symposium at the NANN conference in Palm Springs heard her speak. Terry Johnson is a well-known speaker. You will not want to miss this conference! The evidence supporting the importance of breast milk and donor milk is well known. We have all seen the results of this in our NICUs. We will hear Terry speak on the evidence supporting Prolacta, the human milk fortifier.
The NASN conference was excellent this year. We had nine members attending, six were from Blank. They were able to take advantage of the group discount NANN offers. There are 7,373 NANN members with a retention rate of 73%. NANN has 33 chapters and 45% of the members belong to a chapter. I proudly shared what our chapter is doing to support community service projects at the chapter leadership luncheon. The Michigan chapter won Chapter of the Year. I listened intently to their many accomplishments. Thinking to myself, we do that, we've done that too. Can we win Chapter of the Year? I think we can. Our IANN members demonstrate commitment to the neonatal profession. We are the voice for the tiniest, most vulnerable patients. We witness miracles daily. Let's go for it!
See you soon,
