I am sending out a challenge to all of our IANN members to personally recruit a new member to NANN and IANN. As you know, our NANN dues were increased to $130.00 and our IANN dues remain at $20.00. We have already lost 9 members since the increase. We need to promote our organization and what it means to be a member of NANN – the voice of neonatal nursing. We will be offering 2 partial NANN membership scholarships to IANN members. One will be given out at the April meeting and the second one will be given out at the July meeting. This way we are representing members from both sides of the state. If you call in at a meeting, your name will be in the drawing. The amount of the scholarship will be $75, half of the NANN and IANN dues. Our goal always is to be there for our members for their educational needs. We will also have a drawing for a free 2018 conference at the July conference. IANN members are eligible to request a $200 scholarship to attend the NANN conference in Providence, Rhode Island in October. You will find the form to fill out in our newsletter. A few months ago, one of our members informed me that she was not going to renew her membership. She felt the price increase did not justify “four journals.” What does your NANN membership mean to you? For me, it is the educational opportunities, the journal (which there are actually six), the professional relationships, and networking. But these opportunities are not going to jump in your lap. You have to have accountability for your professional growth and educational needs. It is part of being a professional nurse. I am so grateful for each and every one of our IANN members. I appreciate your desire to promote our profession. I respect what you contribute to our meetings. And, I value our friendship. Thank you for the amazing care we give to Iowa babies in our care.
See you in April,
