From the President
I hope you can make the January 17th meeting at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, home of the now famous “wave.” We have such a wonderful day planned. After our meeting and lunch, a tour will be available. Thank you Stephanie Stewart
for making the arrangements.
NANN now is offering a group discount for nurses joining together. For three to nine nurses, the discount is $10. When there are greater than ten nurses, the discount is $20. Also, you can be from different hospitals. So let me know if you have someone who
wants to be a part of the group from my hospital. I have 7 nurses interested. This is a great way to boost our
Come prepared to discuss other ways we can help recruit members and help with membership
costs. I would like to continue with the $75 dues scholarships that we started last year. We gave out two. I think we should consider one for each meeting.
It would be especially nice to award a couple of these to new members.
NANN also sends out a very nice recruitment letter. When you go on the NANN website, you can refer a friend. You enter their email and you can check if you want to be copied. It is a very easy way to get the word out. I would like to see all IANN members refer at least two colleagues when you renew. That helps fulfill our goal of recruiting and making IANN /NANN
more visible. Let me know if you have any questions.
NANN is increasing their communication with chapters. They are increasing the chapter calls to quarterly and continuing with the chapter lunch at the annual
conference. NANN also has a variety of scholarships
available for the national conference. There are many opportunities available for members. Remember, what you get out of your NANN membership, is what
you put into it. Take advantage of the CEU opportunities and listservs.
And, finally, many thanks to all of you for your continued support. Our chapter has members from across Iowa and from a variety of job settings. We
have so many networking opportunities and we are able to share the great work we are doing across our state. I
am proud to be a NICU nurse. Everything we do is for the babies and their families!
See you soon,
