From the President

Thanks to everyone making the January meeting. The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is a beautiful facility and the view from the Press Box is amazing. And, I loved seeing new faces at our meeting. Welcome to our new members. We are so happy to have you join our chapter. NANN is focusing on increasing membership this year. And, our Iowa chapter would like to increase membership as well. Consider sending NANN’s referral letter to a couple of your colleagues. NANN is the voice of neonatal nursing.

There are several educational opportunities coming up. St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the MCN conference. This year it will be over 2 days and will feature many great speakers, including Terry Johnson. You may register on the St. Luke’s website. The next conference is the statewide perinatal meeting on April 3rd and 4th in West Des Moines. You can register on the UIHC website. We will also have a Mead Johnson sponsored event at Biaggi’s in Cedar Rapids celebrating nurse’s week. It will be held on May 8th. Mark your calendars for our annual IANN neonatal care conference on July 11th at Blank. You will not want to miss Joe Tye! Remember, we are lifelong learners. Take advantage of the many opportunities available to you.

Are you certified? If not, why not? If you have worked in the NICU for 2 years, you are qualified to take the RNC exam. St. Luke’s will be a test site. The testing dates are June 4th, June 18th and June 20th. Registration form is attached. The deadline to take the test at St. Luke’s is March 26th. Please email me with any questions.

And, finally make plans to attend our April meeting. I will be showing a potential new website. Dan Cohen from Nursing Network has developed a website for us. I think you will love it and be impressed with the potential.

See you soon,
See you soon,
Denise
